Rocking a blunt fringe paired with glasses can look amazing. But it’s important to keep your fringe just the right length – too long and it will clash with your frames or even obscure your eyesight! Often the perfect fringe length will become too long within a month, and it will need plenty of trims.

Do you have a blunt fringe and hate how much you have to go to the hairdresser just to get your fringe trimmed? It can get tiresome, not to mention expensive. We’ll show you in this article how cutting your own fringe can be quick and easy, leaving you looking fabulous all the time in your glasses!
If you already have a fringe that just needs a trim, it’s much easier. But if you want to get the blunt fringe look from scratch, we’ll show you to cut long hair into a fringe first.
1. Using a fine-toothed comb, section your hair into a triangle at the front of your head. Place the comb flat on the crown of your head – where the comb comes away from the scalp is how far back the point of your triangle should start. If you want a thinner fringe, start slightly nearer your forehead.

2. Pull the rest of your hair into a ponytail. Don’t wet your hair before cutting, as it will shrink up afterwards, and you may end up cutting off more than you intend! Instead, spritz your hair with water if there are any flyaways. Part the fringe section into three, with the middle section being slightly smaller than the outside pieces.

3. Start cutting the middle section first, with hair scissors if you have them. Pull the hair downward and hold it with your fingers horizontal at the length you want your fringe to be. Cut right beneath them – you want to cut longer and refine later. Hold the scissors at 11 o’ clock while you are cutting, as this produces a softer, more forgiving line.
4. Now cut the side sections. Mix a little of the already-cut middle section with the sides, so the length is consistent. It’s important to slope your fingers at the angle you want your fringe to frame your face. Keep your scissors pointing to 11 o’ clock as you snip.

5. Wet your fringe and blow dry it so it lies flat and smooth. Refine the shape with little snips of the scissors, so it looks even and balanced. At this point you can either make the fringe shorter, or make the entire section wider, by moving your triangle a little further back. Voila, a perfect full fringe!

Trimming your fringe
Once you have your blunt fringe, you need to keep it maintained. Spritz it with water and comb through to align all the strands. Start cutting at the centre, pulling each strand straight and cutting at an 11 o’ clock angle. Get a choppier look by snipping into your finished length with the scissors vertical!
